Maremma, home of beaches, nature parks, archaeological sites and livestock breeders

Tuscany is more than just a beautiful landscape between Liguria, Umbria and Latium. It is more than just a holiday region with beaches and yacht harbours such as Monte Argentino or Viareggio. Tuscany is more than just a region offering cultural treasures like temples, churches, fortresses and ancient cities such as Pisa, Florence and Siena. Tuscany is the perfect combination and offers all of the above as well as fantastic scenery, gourmet specialties, cultural diversity and holidays away from the crowds.

My program focuses on the Maremma, the coastal areas between Livorno in the north and Monte Argentino in the south.

Karte Maremma

Today the plains of the Maremma are dry and provide fertile fields and pastures.
The still typical markets offer local produce such as wine, vegetables and fruit.

This region of Tuscany, which is the poorest and most sparsely populated, is also famous for its herds of cattle and mineral resources.

Many fishing villages have turned into bathing resorts. With the exception of Monte Argentario, most of them are well preserved and quite picturesque, like Talamone.

Landkarte Maremma

The Maremma also offers recreation activities for those who are out for more than relaxation. You can hike in the "Parco Naturale Regionale della Maremma" with its pine forests and swamplands.

Insel Elba Elba, with a coastline of 147 km, lies just off the Maremma coast and can be reached by ferry from Piombino. Day trips around the picturesque town of Portoferraio or Porto Azzuro are definitely worthwhile.
